God and Santa Can Eat Shooter McGavin's Breakfast

Shooter eats pieces of shit for breakfast.

But mostly just God.

How's that for a clickbait title?  Did it grab your attention?

I feel I owe a bit of apology to both of those two, because they aren't responsible for how their believers behave.

I saw a post a few years back and then again recently about being careful about what gifts you may label "from Santa" or not during the Christmas season.  You may be asking why, and that's because some kids may go to school talking about what they got from Santa and find themselves wondering why Franklin got a new Playstation and they only got a Jurrassic World Lego set.  It may leave them feeling like Santa doesn't value them as much as Franklin and it will destroy their self esteem for the rest of their lives.  They'll end up trying to be like Franklin so they can get the same gifts from Santa instead of just being their own awesome self without comparing their own material obsessions with another.

But you know what?  I don't think kids do that.  I think that was originally an adult projecting their own feelings about how they think children might feel.  If only children cared about that stuff.  I think most kids that still believe in Santa have no idea the value of money.  I have zero recollection of ever thinking Santa favored someone else over another and wondering what I had to do to gain his favor.

But do you know who I did try to gain favor from?

God.

You know why?  I used to see and hear all of these rich and wealthy people talking about how God had blessed them and blah blah blah.  And there I was with a broken home and while we weren't poor, we didn't have much disposable income.  But then I was also broke even though I was working hard, I had to sell many things that I would love to still own today.  Especially my first amethyst colored Gibson Les Paul Studio with chrome hardware and a black pickguard, and my mesa engineering dual rectifier solo head with a 4x12 cabinet.  This items were difficult to part with, but I had to do what I had to do.  And lets not forget the infertility struggles.  See, it didn't seem to matter how much we prayed, worshipped, or were devoted to the Christian God, we didn't have the life that many other Christians who gave God all the glory had.

Why them?  Why not us?  Why not both of us?  Why not every person in the entire world if God is so awesome?

Why do rich American Christians spend so much money on frivolous material shit when people all around the world are dying from a lack of resources?

You know what did an unfathomable amount of damage?  What comparing what God "blessed" me with to what God seemingly "blessed" other people with.  What did I have to do to be blessed like them.  I thought I was doing all the right things.

But maybe I was wrong in my thinking.  OR...they were wrong in theirs.  Those people weren't blessed.  Those people just worked hard to get what they got and gave God the credit.  But it was really themselves doing all the work and not God.  God had nothing to do with it.

Just like Santa.  Santa has nothing to do with the gifts your children get.  And God has nothing to do with your good favor or bad.

It's. All. You.

Own it.
